SIDC URSIGRAM 40127 SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 27 Jan 2004, 1230UT SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 27 Jan 2004 until 29 Jan 2004) SOLAR FLARES : Quiet conditions (<50% probability of C-class flares) GEOMAGNETISM : Active conditions expected (A>=20 or K=4) SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet PREDICTIONS FOR 27 Jan 2004 10CM FLUX: 095 / AP: 024 PREDICTIONS FOR 28 Jan 2004 10CM FLUX: 104 / AP: 031 PREDICTIONS FOR 29 Jan 2004 10CM FLUX: 106 / AP: 022 COMMENT: The solar wind speed shows a slowly increasing trend, indicating that the expected influence of the small equatorial coronal hole has started. So far, the north-south component of the IMF remains small and of variable orientation. We expect active conditions (K=4) for the next 36 hours, occasionally reaching K=5. Thereafter, geomagnetic conditions will return to quiet levels. Solar activity is and will remain very low. The X-ray background is at a low B-level and decreasing. The visible solar disk is totally void of magnetic field concentrations of any significance.
