SIDC URSIGRAM 50111 SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 11 Jan 2005, 1219UT SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 11 Jan 2005 until 13 Jan 2005) SOLAR FLARES : Eruptive (C-class flares expected, probability >= 50%) GEOMAGNETISM : Active conditions expected (A>=20 or K=4) SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet PREDICTIONS FOR 11 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 092 / AP: 011 PREDICTIONS FOR 12 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 094 / AP: 021 PREDICTIONS FOR 13 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 095 / AP: 008 COMMENT: Recent flaring activity was confined to a C1.0 flare and a few B-flares from mainly Catania sunspot group 04 (NOAA 0719). This region is growing and seems likely to produce more C-class flares or even an M-flare. Also the new sunspot group in the northeast, Catania 05 (NOAA 0720) has a good chance for C-flares. The geomagnetic conditions are influenced by a small coronal hole in the southeren solar hemisphere. The north-south component of the IMF is very variable with short intervals of mild southwards orientation. We therefore expect quiet to active conditions.
