The fact that the solar wind speed is not decreasing any more (after the shockarrival) can be possibly caused by the northern hemispheric coronal hole. Last night (Jan 22 - Jan 23) we had some active geomagnetic periods. Up till tomorrow, periods of active conditions can still occur. Sunspot group 05 (NOAA 720) still produced an M-flare peaking at 01:51 UT, Jan 23. Other active regions now visible on the solar disk are behaving quiet.
