Yesterday (27/02), the western part of the large filament erupted. Evidence of the eruption is seen in EIT 195 at 10:00 and in EIT 304 at 13:19 UT. The associated CME is first seen in LASCO c2 at 10:34 UT. Due to its westward position, we do not expect major geomagnetic consequences. No proton event was recorded. Later at 21:30 UT another CME was seen in c2 at the East limb, it is determined backsided. The solar wind speed is still elevated at 600 km/s, the IMF is mostly pointing North. This results in quiet (Kp=3) geomagnetic conditions. The high wind speed is attributed to the coronal hole, now situated near the West limb. We expect its influence to diminish soon.
