SIDC URSIGRAM 50107 SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 07 Jan 2005, 1154UT SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 07 Jan 2005 until 09 Jan 2005) SOLAR FLARES : Quiet conditions (<50% probability of C-class flares) GEOMAGNETISM : Quiet (A<20 and K<4) SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet PREDICTIONS FOR 07 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 084 / AP: 003 PREDICTIONS FOR 08 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 086 / AP: 014 PREDICTIONS FOR 09 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 089 / AP: 008 COMMENT: Solar activity remains very quiet. The only sunspot group currently visible is the decaying remnant of Catania 98. EIT images show a new group appering at the the east limb, but the activity seems to be small. We therefore expect quiet conditions on the sun. Geomagnetic conditions are currently quiet. The solar wind speed is 500km/s but shows an increasing trend. Also the IMF field is increasing. This may mark the arrival of ICME material (no shocks have been observed from the various halo CMEs from Catania 98). A large prominence erupted from the eastern hemisphere on Jan 05 and generated a halo CME with a speed range 500-1000km/s. This may impact the earth tomorrow.
