SIDC URSIGRAM 50109 SIDC SOLAR BULLETIN 09 Jan 2005, 1715UT SIDC FORECAST (valid from 1230UT, 09 Jan 2005 until 11 Jan 2005) SOLAR FLARES : Eruptive (C-class flares expected, probability >= 50%) GEOMAGNETISM : Quiet (A<20 and K<4) SOLAR PROTONS : Quiet PREDICTIONS FOR 09 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 090 / AP: 005 PREDICTIONS FOR 10 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 089 / AP: 006 PREDICTIONS FOR 11 Jan 2005 10CM FLUX: 088 / AP: 007 COMMENT: A second sunspot group has appeared at the east limb: Catania sunspot group 04 (NOAA 0719) follows closely behind Catania 03 (NOAA 0718). It immediately took over the role of the dominant sunspot group and already generated an M2.4 flare. Both sunspot groups are likely to generate C-flares, with a small chance for an M-flare. Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet for the past 24 hours. The solar wind speed is still slightly elevated, but since the IMF is strongly northwards, quiet conditions are expected to continue.
