With a speed still at 650km/s, the fast solar wind stream again triggered a temporary geomagnetic minor storm in various ground locations late yesterday Jan.17, due to a small Southward rotation of the interplanetary magnetic field. As long as the wind speed remains high, which is expected to happen until Jan. 20, such occasional minor storms remain possible, while the geomagnetic field should be predominantly unsettled to active. After Jan. 20, the geomagnetism will return to quieter conditions. TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 019, BASED ON 02 STATIONS.
