A B4.9 flare peaking at 05:03 UT on January 31 was detected by GOES-14. At the time of writing it is still unclear what active region produced this flare. NOAA AR 1043 is the most likely candidate, although the decaying NOAA AR 1041 (Catania number 37) cannot be completely excluded. Due to a rapid growth of the NOAA AR 1043, a C-flare is possible. The Earth is currently inside a solar wind flow with an intermediate speed (around 450 km/s). An interplanetary sector boundary was crossed early this morning, accompanying a passage from a slow to the intermediate solar wind flow. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is back at the average level (around 5 nT), so we expect quiet geomagnetic conditions. TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 010, BASED ON 09 STATIONS.
