Splinter - Observations and measurements of the first solar and geomagnetic events of Solar Cycle 24
P. Nieminen (ESA), D. Pitchford (SES Astra), H. Evans (ESA)
Tuesday, Nov 29, 14:00-16:00

Following the recent very deep solar minimum period and the now gradually increasing solar activity, this splinter session will investigate space- and ground based observations and measurements of a solar and geo-magnetic events of 2011, which may include any outer electron belt enhancements, spacecraft anomalies, ground induced events, or solar particle events observed prior to the ESWW. The audience is actively encouraged to participate by using their datasets during the splinter session and to investigate the selected events in "real time". At the end of the splinter, a summary of the events from Sun to Earth, the data, and the potential impact of the event will be reported.
Shortly before the ESWW a list of dates which will form the focus of this splinter meeting will be circulated allowing participants to prepare in advance.
