Details

This message is formatted in a typical ISES style, but it is not in itself a standard ISES code. The information contained in it (the K-indices for the Hartland Magnetic Observatory for a whole week) can be extracted as follows.

The message contains 16 blocks of 5 digits, spread over two lines of 8.

The first block is the code-word "KINHA".

The second 5-digit block gives the date of the FIRST day of observations (always a Monday) in standard ISES code:
YMMDD, where Y = last digit of year, MM = month of year (01 = January, 02 = February, etc.), and DD = UT day of month.

The remaining 14 blocks then give 2-by-2 the daily observations: blocks 3 and 4 are for the first day, 5 and 6 for the second, etc. Each time the first 8 digits are the three-hourly K-indices, while the last two are the checksum (the sum of the 8 K-indices).

Check the ISES code book for information on ISES codes.
